Get ready to GO TINY!
Our weekend workshops cover what you need to assess where you are, determine where you’re headed, and decide exactly what you need to “Go Tiny!”
GoTiny workshops include in-depth details, hands-on how-to knowledge, and experience needed to:
- Define your needs
- Design your home
- Choose a fixed foundation or mobile platform
- Select materials
- Budget expenses
- Request vendor proposals
- Prepare for compliance inspections
- And receive certification
All this helps you “future proof” your Tiny Home for use as a rental property, second home, accessory structure, or full-time residence.
The seminars start with a Personal Needs Assessment to help you figure out how it’s best for YOU to “go tiny!” You’ll hear practical experience, hear some very important legal considerations, and walk-through lots of affordable tiny living solutions.
Plus, we’ll outline a “Simple-to-Elegant” approach that starts with the basics that you can build-out as your “forever” tiny home
Next, we’ll help you start turning YOUR needs and dreams into real-world solutions.
You’ll gain access to our planning process so you can zero in on what you need to prepare your tiny for either recreational or residential use.
You’ll gain insight on differences in tiny home inspections, and clear direction to prepare your tiny home for certification by a qualified inspection agency.
Then we’ll cover land use for RV-like parking arrangements, placement of a semi-permanent “detachable” tiny home, and master plan considerations for siting your tiny home on a permanent foundation.
Okay… armed with the vision for your home, its layout and design, plus ways to estimate and track expenses, we’ll dive into the specifics for your tiny home!
We’ll help you determine if you should “buy or build” while knowing when and how to choose between big-box stores, tiny-sized supply companies, and industry-leading service providers.
You’ll better understand the difference between foundations and floor systems to select the right solution for your choice of portable, detachable, or permanent tiny home.
You’ll better understand core criteria for choosing tiny home trailers, best practices used by leading suppliers, and key considerations to balance up-front cost-cutting with long-term use of a movable tiny home.
And, you’ll receive a side-by-side overview and pro/con comparison of shells built of stick framing, steel frame systems, and structural insulated panel kits.
We’ve designed this session to give you the knowledge, experience, and confidence to develop an action plan to tackle your tiny home project… and get-’er-done!
Lastly… let’s bring it all home: Saying, “It’s built LIKE a house” isn’t the same as PROVING it is a house!
In this last session, you’ll get an overview of the more formal planning and inspection processes so you can design, build, or buy a tiny home that upholds health, safety, and welfare in a way that PROVES your tiny home is suitable for use as a legally permissible dwelling unit.
These GoTiny seminars are more than a workshop… more like an immersive experience. You’ll receive a deep level of knowledge suitable for:
- DIY home owners and builders;
- Architects, engineers, and home designers;
- Building construction professionals;
- Component fabricators;
- Product manufacturers;
- Building and zoning officials;
- Tiny life advocates…
…and others interested in design of space, form, flow, and features of Tiny Homes.
Suffice it to say, you’ll be in GREAT company, and are likely to make MANY long-lasting friendships and supporting relationships.
